Essendo un perfezionista e fanatico della semplicità, ho scelto lo sfondo Ubuntu in 3D, che è semplicemente uno schianto. Il tema è Moomex Ultimatum, scuro e piacevole da guardare per ore. Il tema per le icone l'ho trovato sul web e si chiama Mashup - versione MaXo. Adoro l'aspetto delle icone, realistico ma semplice e scuro. E il selettore area di lavoro è stupendo. Le persone osservano questa funzione e si convertono a Linux a valanga.<br /></span></p>

Il computer ha una CPU Intel Pentium 4 2.26GHz e 2x 256MB RAM. È provvisto di un chip grafico integrato Intel 82845G/GL (8MB di memoria condivisa, che è il massimo che il BIOS permette), ma Compiz è fluido.<br /><br />Ho rimosso il pannelo inferiore, sostituito da Avant Window Navigator. Ho sostituito quel brutto colore marrone nel tema Human con un blu cielo, e sostituito il tema delle icone con il set Dropline Neu da art.gnome.org, se ricordo bene.<br /></span></p>

L'ho comprato a buon mercato al posto del laptop, a circa 1200 Lev Bulgari ~ 600 euro. È in dual-boot con Vista, a causa dei giochi e Photoshop, sebbene cerco di lavorare con GIMP.<br /><br />Il tema è un Elegance modificato. Ho preso lo sfondo da gnome-look.org e le icone sono Hydroxygen (scaricate anch'esse da gnome-look).<br /><br />Ubuntu va piuttosto bene sulla mia macchina. L'unico problema avuto ha richiesto la modifica di un file per ottene l'audio dagli altoparlanti del laptop, e per il rifiuto del PC di avviarsi normalmente dopo la ibernazione.<br /></span></p>

KDE4 mi ha permesso di lavorare più velocemente che con Gnome, e il software KDE mi piace molto, e, ovviamente, i Plasmoidi. Non solo sono belli da vedere, ma sono anche utili per un rapido accesso a qualunque cosa.<br /><br />In questo momento la mia macchina ha un dual-boot con Vista, ma non lo uso mai tranne che per alcuni giochi che non vanno in Ubuntu. Dato che il mio computer ha 3 GB di RAM, e un processore AMD dual-core @2.1 GHz, Kubuntu gira incredibilmente veloce.<br /></span></p>
